Recent Works
Art works that break the boundary between the creator, the viewer, and the future, these paintings are eternal. In the sense of them existing outside of time and telling a story of interdimentional travel. These paintings were birthed out of my spiritual practice as a practitioner of the present moment and the invocation of ancestral memory as well as reincarnation.
A huge part of my work comes from the theme of Building culture from within the body, for the body, and the bodies to come. I am approaching liberation through painting in color where notions of post black, post gender, and post human are touched but not completely made the primary experience. I believe that my art is the clearest invocation of the future and the past combined while also touching tropes of the challenges displaced and marginalized people have when it comes to self image and identity. The intention is to cross ancestral erasure with the innocence of being born anew and protecting what is sacred through adornment and raw presentation.
My creations set the stage for my social practice which involves holding art workshops, mediating dialogues exploring sensitivity, accountability, and processing trauma. As well as holding group meditations.
MY PROCESS INVOLVES USING FOUND MATERIALS, DONATED MATERIALS, SUCH AS DOLLS, MANNEQUINS, OLD PAINT, OLD JEWELERY, DONATED FABRIC, ELEMENTS OF NATURE, WIRE, AND YARN,AND MAKING AN ART PIECE OR WEARABLE FASHION OBJECT. UPCYCLING AND MAKING USE OF EVERYTHING IS HOW I SHOW GRATITUDE TO THE UNIVERSE AND THE EARTH. BRINGING VALUE TO WHAT WOULD OTHERWISE BE DISCARDED.
