Where does the distance between the creation and the creator collapse?

I am creating a series where the boundaries between the artist and the work are assessed. The mediums of literature, installation and body painting will be invoked with an aim to understand the delicacies of disappearing into what you create. A intricate balance many artists navigate.

Who Am I?

I am a visual artist and event coordinator. I work with a study on spirituality, decolonization and honoring forgotten, erased, marginalized people, and spirits throughout the human experience. My events focus on confidence building and nervous system regulation for descendants of global prisoners of war, and descendants of the transatlantic slave trade. All of my events are donation based or free to the public.

My goal is to start a nonprofit that bridges the realm of art and social justice. The mission is called Core Study and Cultural Restoration for the erased, marginalized and forgotten.

There has been many shifts. I completed my residency in Angola and it opened my mind to international struggles artists’ experience. In terms of Arts advocacy, proper representation as well as the undertone of disrespect women receive across the globe.

Learn about my experience during my residency in Angola here.

Big things are here!

Big things are here!

Watching Angola, Counsel before flight, is one of my newest paintings, that I plan to turn into a wearable jacket, a part of my series on migration and walking with your art.

Watching Mali, most recent painting also known as the Lions Gate Portal painting. An interdimensional portal. View some of my thoughts and process at the link below.

Works Made during time as a Performance Artist with Chashama.

I was given a timeline to create an installation that I would perform out of on my birthday which just happened to also be the time of Chashama’s Inagural Gala. It was an exhibit on 42nd St. Times Square in one of the most condensed areas in NYC. I worked with Anita Durst and performed along side 300 other artists. It was a lovely experience.

Here The Ceremony Begins

By: Eleven El Gahada

A Spiritual Guidance Book

"The publication is a guide into the present moment that helps you also understand the spiritual unknown. It holds a flashlight onto our relationships, spiritual practices, and soul's journey. It has over 30 meditations, affirmations, and a personal ceremony guide. And lastly it combines physics and spiritual teachings to assist in understanding the roots within energy work and manifestation. This book in its fullness is preparation for rebirth, and comes in people's lives at transcendental and pivotal turning points. It is support for those walking the path to healing and renewal." Now available on Amazon.

Here the Ceremony Begins: Solo Exhibit. My first Solo Exhibit bloomed from a completion of a residency at Paul Robeson Gallery in Newark NJ.The show ran from November to April 2024.

What it took to bring it forward…

It took waking up as the sun rises settling the soul in the body, buying my bus ticket waiting for the bus not sure when it would come. It took heading downtown, getting in at 12, with a container of food to last the day to fuel the painting inside. It took red, yellow and blue, and then ochre, and cadmium, deep umber, and hue, it took soiled brushes, numerous trips to blick, it took mentors appearing out of the shadows donating paint, donating canvases and surfaces, it took heaps and heaps of fabric, hot glue and stitching, beads, and nails, bamboo sticks, and channeling, long days of meditation, sitting in the depth of my composure waiting for inspiration. It took long walks downtown, stumbling into temporary thrift shops as the businesses switched from hand to hand, buying and finding bird feathers, collecting eggs and stones, harvesting flowers, inhaling peppermint and watching the petals of roses and buds of pussy willows, all fall down in the window as the sun set. It took gathering scraps, rearranging them many times, digging into the garbage finding gold and diamonds, dusting them off so you could see their beauty. It took ceremonies, it took many moons, bleeding into raw canvases making love under tabletops, watching the muses as they fade away, and become new again in a portrait. It took erasing myself and becoming invisible, giving my image entirely to the document, to the palette and to the walls. It took all of me to complete this exhibit and I could not be more proud as I lost friends and jobs in isolation and met folks from faraway places, countries and dimensions, fabricating the roots of this work.

My paintings are interdimensional photography. I travel dimensions and parallel realities through meditation, and paint what I see from my third eye. My work is the residue of higher dimensions leaking into this reality.
